Gym & Studio Fit Out’s | Fitzpatrick Team

Gyms and studios are very special places that need to be understood as similar but crucially different to other fit outs. Floor space is at a premium but your clients must get a feeling of freshness and light as they focus on their workout. Gym goers want fitness but they also want wellbeing.
A site specific design brief is a must
Without an in depth analysis and design brief, all the special features cannot be included. These are the points that will make your gym or studio unique. We can work with your preferred consultants or our designers will assist you to spotlight the ‘must have’ machinery, equipment and consulting rooms. Features such as spas or pools and possible areas for classes possibly allowed for. We will include good practice items as well as meet or exceed building regulations.
The 3 most important documents
1 Drawings and Specifications
These documents will clarify the interior design layouts and area uses together with the standards and code of practices to be followed. The actual products for flooring, walls, ceilings, plumbing, air circulation, lighting etc. will be selected as will the exact equipment needed for training options, cardio, strength training etc. All gyms and studios need high quality finishes, a well-planned layout and the right equipment to succeed.
2 Program of Works
This determines the pace of the works and what elements or equipment is on the ‘critical path’. Orders need to be placed in time to ensure a smooth build and installation process. The program gives a proposed start and a fixed completion date so that commercial operations can be effectively planned and commence on time.
3 Budgets
Without a fixed budget how can we ensure that the project makes financial sense? Fitzpatrick Team control and monitor costs. If issues arise and budgets come under stress, early information is a vital tool in order to offer solutions not problems.
Micro and Macro
The last important attributes are separate but complementing views. Project Management can only work if the managers have both micro and macro viewpoints. Fitzpatrick Team focus on the detail but keep an eye on the bigger picture. An example of this would be - we are scheduled to fit all the windows by a certain date but know that a particular piece of equipment will not fit through the openings after the windows are all fitted. The micro manager will determine the exact size and finish of the windows whilst the macro manager will phase the window installation to allow the equipment to be installed.
The ‘devil is in the detail’ call Fitzpatrick Team to discuss your upcoming project.
