Refurbish Extend Commercial Spaces
Should you refurbish your workspace or build an extension?
If you need extra space at your current location the answer may be obvious as every bit of space is being used and to extend is the only option. But you should carefully look at your use of space and assess what can be moved around and what can be added within the walls of your current building.
Refurbishment offers value as you don’t need to extend your floors, roof and external structure and the savings made are sizeable. It is considered that the cost to refurbish is 50% less per square metre than to construct an extension.
You will obviously have to relocate whatever the space is currently used for or perhaps clear out items rarely used and languishing in a store room. This can be an opportunity to increase insulation and natural light and transform a dull area into a premium and sort after zone.
If you are only altering internal rooms with minor external changes, planning permits will probably not be needed. Building regulations approval is always a must and certificates for plumbing, electrical etc. must be issued when necessary.
